Day 57 Scarecrow

This little guy greets you as you enter the Hall's house. He probably couldn't scare away a crow, because he's the friendly sort. He's very polite and just stands in the corner smiling at everyone.

Day 56 Silly Goose

This poor little goose just sits out in front of our house on the plant shelf. She is always happy, no matter what the weather is like.

Day 55 Gigantic Spider!!

I came back into the den and this Huuuuge spider was just sitting there on the curtains. I snapped a picture and then shooed him into the back yard where he promptly ate the neighbor's cat then skittered away.

Day 54 Euclid St.

Yeah, I know, not much creativity. Still, I like the effect of the motion of traffic while we see life go by.

Day 53 Bug & Flower

I was on my way home from Costco and I saw these beautiful red flowers next to the Senior Apartments on Acacia. I have no idea what they are called. Anyhow, I was trying to decide which one to take a picture of when I noticed this long-legged bug sitting inside this one. Kinda cool and weird at the same time.

Day 52 St. Michaels

This is St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Anaheim. Built in 1876, in English-country style, the church originally was at Emily and Adele streets in Anaheim. It was moved in 1955 to its present location on South Street in Anaheim. I like the architecture and hope to include it in my Church Project.

Day 51 Sunrise at Silverwood Lake

I woke up this morning and saw this amazing sky. I could not find a good location, so I walked a little bit and found some good high ground.

Day 50 Spooky tree

While out on a hike on Saturday morning, we came across a few of these trees that had been burned a while back. I thought it would look cool to convert it to black and white for a a sort of spooky look.

Day 49 Misty Moon

While at Silverwood Lake this weekend, I was able to get a few nice shots. The moon was coming in and out from behind the clouds. I caught it with a little wispy cloud cover.

Day 48 Mark

Here is my son Mark. he is a big guy and can look intimidating. I laid on the floor and had him stand over me while I snapped away. I liked the black and white effect with the flash highlights in his eyes.

Day 47 Scrabble

Scrabble. OK, not the height of creativity, but kinda cool anyway. Besides, it's Kim's favorite game.

Day 46 Romans

Today's rooted reading was in Romans 9:14 - 29. The verse I focused on was Ro 9:15. The LORD speaks of having mercy and compassion on whom He pleases. His grace and mercy are perfect and serve His purpose.  Awesome.

Day 45 Driving

I went for a drive and set the camera on the dashboard. It still vibrates because the engine makes the whole car shake. This is another one of those techniques I will improve over the course of the year. Remember, the idea is to show improvement.

Day 44 Garden Grove First Baptist Church

Twenty nine years ago today, Kim and I were married at this little church. We live less than a mile away and I've always thought it was a pretty church. Bummer we couldn't have a nicer day today!

Day 43 Crystal Cove

I went for a little drive this afternoon and ended up at Crystal Cove State Beach. The sky was very boring and the lighting was pretty good, so I took a few shots of the cliffs at the Western end of the beach. This came out OK. I wanted to take more but it started to rain and I didn't want to damage my camera, so...

Day 42 Cross

This is another knick-knack we have on our living room shelves. I took this one in the dark, back-lit by a small tea candle and front lit by the TV. I waited until the right color commercial was on and liked this one the best.

Day 41 Old Dogs

Here are my 2 Labs Kobe and Thor. Kobe is the Chocolate and Thor is the Yellow.  They were both tired out and fell asleep in the living room. They are good buddies and often snuggle up together at bedtime.

Day 40 Orange Public Library Fountain

This is the fountain in the parking lot at the Orange Public Library on Chapman just east of the Circle. Not much to say about it other than it's cool.  I love fountains.

Day 39 Blue bottle

Once again I almost didn't make it. I kind of rushed this, but I think I will revisit this bottle later down the road when I have more time to set up the shot. I liked the way the blue worked in the darkness. I might try different filters or gels next time to see what happens.

Day 38 What's for Dinner?

Today I made a massive batch of meat sauce and then converted some of that into Baked Ziti with Sausage. It was fantastic. Spicy Italian Sausage, meat sauce, 16 oz. whole milk Mozzarella, 4 oz. fresh grated Parmesan Cheese. We had Garlic toast made with Ralph's French Bread and my own garlic butter recipe.  Yum.

Day 37 If I only had a heart...

Here is a cute little tin man hanging around a neighbor's garage. I've looked at him before and decided I would get a closer look this evening. He just hangs around and doesn't want to be a bother. He's very polite and thoughtful, so I suppose he already has his heart after all.

Day 36 Einstein

This is a statue of Albert Einstein in the Gunther Depths of Space Exhibit at the Griffith Observatory. Obviously I did not take this one today, but I was out of time and wanted something interesting and that you could not see every day.

Day 35 Just thinkin'

So I just sat down in the middle of the street and started thinking. I thought, "Hey, maybe I'll get hit by a car!"

Day 34 Reading

This is me being creative. I set this up and tried a ton of different angles and decided I liked this one. I backlit this with a flashlight covered by a green tupperware cup. I then messed with exposures until I could find just the right lighting. I like it because it mixes two of my favorite hobbies: reading and photography.

Day 33 Seal Beach Sunset

With the weather we've been having we're experiencing some nice sunsets. I went down to the Seal Beach Pier and took a few shot today. I liked a lot of them and I had a hard time deciding which one to post. I finally settled on this one.

Day 32 Let's Go Red Wings!

That's right, I went there. The iconic logo of the NHL's model franchise, the winged wheel is as beautiful as ever. This is the front of A.J.'s Brendan Shanahan jersey. The back is signed by Brendan himself. Here's to Cup # 12.

Day 30 Faith

Well, I wanted to make this blog about taking a picture every day and then post it the same day. This one I actually took yesterday. I could not find the time to get out today (too many commitments and higher priorities) so I went through a few I took yesterday. This is Faith ,Verity's sister (Day 16) and Layla's (Day 29) cousin. She was in charge of the container they send around whenever a goal is scored by Layla's team. She was really busy in the first half.

Day 29 Layla

We went to Chino Hills today to watch Layla play soccer. During the first half her team raced out to a 7-0 lead with Layla netting the 4th goal. In the second half Layla put on the striped jersey and played goalkeeper. She played a real aggressive style and shut out the other team for the half. This photo is during one of the times when the play was at the other end.

Day 28 Jessica

This is a nice shot of Jessie having a french fry at McDonald's tonight. She was being very shy and I had the hardest time getting a good shot, but this one is one I liked. She is such a little cutie and really photographs well once she is ready for her close up.
